I am a 27-year-old female who has headaches on a daily basis. I do not have any medical conditions that cause the headaches, however; it doesn't matter whether I am working or relaxing. I do not currently take anything for the headaches, but they are increasing in intensity. What do you suggest I do?

There is not a lot of information to go on here, but I can give you a few pointers.

First, if you are taking anything such as aspirin, Tylenol, Aleve, ibuprofen, etc., then stop. Many people perpetuate their headaches by taking these medications. These medications can cause a rebound phenomenon.

Second, you should see your doctor for an exam to make sure there is nothing neurologic going on. He or she may then prescribe a low dose of Elavil or Inderal to prevent the headaches.

This approach can help about 80 percent of headache sufferers.
